How we Met

We originally met in the winter of 2000 through our rival swim teams (we shared the pool). Later, during the 2003 season, we finally started talking after I wrote my number on Justin's hand, and eventually started dating after that. After a year of high school, four years of college for each, and two years of grad school for Justin, we are finally engaged and excited to spend the rest of our lives together.

Our Proposal: Justin had surprised me with a cruise to the southern caribbean for our 6th anniversary. The cruise was a month after our anniversary, so I had lots of time to contemplate if he was going to propose or not, and our families were split on their ideas Some said, "dont you dare think its going to happen!" and others said, "of course it is!" By the time the cruise came around, I had convinced myself that the cruise would not be our engagement story, because he had already spend so much on the cruise itself. The first night of our cruise, we walked around exploring, and then came back to the room to open a lovely bottle of pinot noir. I was in the bathroom freshening up from a long day of traveling and was trying to make conversation, but he was making no sense! So I came out of the bathroom, we opened the bottle of wine, and he started saying really sweet things about wanting us to be together forever. I figured he was being sweet because it was our first real vacation together, and then I noticed that one of his hands was behind his back. Now, anyone who has gone on a cruise knows that there are mirrors EVERYWHERE, and I would not allow myself to look in the mirror behind him, afraid I would be dissapointed. Next thing I knew, he was getting down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! Of course I said YES!! and the rest is history!

More About Us...

Alise went to Albertus Magnus College and graduated with a BA in mathematics, and is currently working on her Masters in Special Education at CCSU. She is now a full time math teacher at Sheehan. In the winter, she coaches for the Sheehan boys' swim team, and couldn't think of any two jobs better than teaching and coaching.

Justin went to SCSU and graduated with a BS in applied mathematics, and then went on to also graduate from SCSU with his MBA. He has his own business making maple syrup, and hopes to soon expand to wine, and other products. Justin also works at Pond Ridge at Ashlar Village.
